This
is H.I.T. Ch Libra's Opportunity
Knocks, UD TD, Can. CD. I’ve always
felt that there's an extra special bond that is built when
you work with a dog to an upper level obedience title.
Knox and I had that bond, and more. She was far from
just a companion or my team mate in obedience competition.
I will always remember the compliments we got about how well
she worked for me.
We were at a show in Virginia
Beach one year and Skip Bittner was in the same class as I
was - on the bitch just ahead of me. He asked "Is she
yours?" and I told him yes and he replied "She loves you.
You can see it in her eyes." He then proceeded to give
me tips on how to make her look better in the ring.
I'll never forget what he said or how nice it was for a
Prof. Handler to be so helpful to someone he had never seen
before.
Not long afterward, we finished her Championship from the
Bred by class by going Best of Breed over Specials for a 4
pt major. Knox was so willing to please and tried so
hard for me, that she completed her Utility Dog title after
only 13 times in the ring. In 2002, we went to Canada
and showed in 4 Obedience Trials over 3 days. She got
High in Trial all 4 Trials and High Aggregate for the
weekend. These are just a few examples of why I fell
so much in love with this dog.
From the day she went to Pet
Emergency until the day she passed away of
Hemangiosarcoma, I had
just 6 days with her. I will always be thankful for that last
weekend we had together. Knox now has reached
Circle 2000 status at the Rottweiler Health Foundation.
I nominated her 1 yr. after her passing and in her memory, I
have made donations to help
find out why so many Rottweilers are dying
of cancer so young. Below are some of the special
accomplishments we had:

Last night I had
a crazy dream
A wish was granted just for me,
It could be for anything.
I didn't ask for
money
Or a mansion in Malibu
I simply wished for one more day with you.
One more day,
one more time
One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied.
But then again, I know what it would do.
Leave me wishing still,
For one more day with you...
