Since I'm not
exactly sure how to get the cool menu I want, I've decided
to change around this page and give my opinion of each breed
I own, then include links to their pages. Please
scroll down to read my personal experience with each of the
3 breeds I share my life with. It makes me proud to
get regular comments on how well behaved all of them are.
Naturally, this comes from their obedience training. I
hope you can take the time to meet each one of my wonderful
kids.

Rottweiler:
I feel that this is the ultimate dog for those that want to
compete in a variety of sports. They can do Carting,
Tracking, Obedience, Rally, Agility, Conformation, and
Herding. The only thing they can't title in (and only
because they aren't an accepted breed) is Field Trials, Hunt
Test and Lure Coursing. This breed is extremely smart,
not for the timid person who might be "afraid" of their own
dog. They require socialization and obedience training
to be good family dogs. Loyalty is a given! Even
though none of mine are good for protection, they make me
feel safe wherever I might be. This was my first breed
and will always have my heart.
Chihuahua:
This breed is totally
underestimated by the majority of people. Even those
that have been showing in Conformation for eons. The
general public sees them as pocket dogs, ankle biters that they aren't a 'real' dog,
and most recently, as a little dog they can dress up like a
baby doll. But, take my word for
it... inside this little body is a dog with great
intelligence, a willingness to work and a lot of spunk!
A Chihuahua that titles in performance events is the
exception rather than the rule, unfortunately, but when they
do - they are quite the crowd pleaser. People are
always entertained by these happy miniature working dogs!
They are very loyal, cute and in my opinion, require the
same socialization as any other dog. Holding them all
the time will only perpetuate the General Public's image of
this truly wonderful companion.
Tibetan Spaniel:
What can I say about the
Tibbie? In my experience, which is minimal since I've
only lived with this breed for a few yrs, they are
independent, loving, very intelligent, cuddly and
thankfully, uncommon to see. Again, socialization and
training at an early age is recommended. Any dog will
greatly benefit from getting out of the house and meeting
other dogs and/or people. This breed recognizes
another Tibbie and it is truly entertaining to watch them
play together. When 'in coat', Tibetan Spaniels are
absolutely beautiful. Another breed where a
performance dog is the exception. Patience,
positive training and understanding of the breed's
personality is a definite plus!
